A Region of Overwhelming Landscapes.
Coyhaique - Cerro Castillo - Lake General Carrera
- Baker River - Cochrane
.
This southern region of Chile is home to
the North Ice Fields, the enormous Lake General Carrera, the enigmatic Castillo Mountain,
the mighty Baker River, valleys transformed by the eruption of the Hudson Volcano, the
immaculate columns of the Marble Chapel, and Patagonias frozen giant, the majestic
San Valentín Mountain. It is an area of overwhelming landscapes where brave men and women
were able to make their way in a land of extremes. The Carretera Austral runs through the
heart of Patagonia, and best reveals its beauty to those travelling at a bicycle pace.
