Torres del Paine

Various dates from December through to March plus special programs during Christmas and New Year.

Private tours available upon request for other dates.

Mountain Bike extension along the southernmost road in the South American Continent and climb Monte Tarn in one of the most beautiful sectors of the Strait of Magellan.

"Thousands of years ago strange animals once inhabited the Patagonian region in the far south of Chile. One of these was the Mylodon, a cross between a bear and a sloth, which stood upright on its hind legs supported by its tail. The Mylodon roamed through the extraordinary natural scenery of what is now the Torres del Paine National Park, based at the foot of huge rocky mountains, glaciers, wild forests, stunning lakes, raging rivers and waterfalls. Tens of thousands of years have passed and the Mylodon is now extinct although some traces remain to be seen. Today the area is still just as breathtaking and provides an incredible course for biking and walking through, submerged in this landscape of truly natural beauty."

In the evening, Pared Sur invites guests to a welcome drink and briefing which will explain the final details of the trip. Welcome drink and accommodation is included and although dinner is left to the guest, it is preferably taken at the hotel.

Day 2 - Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, Cerro Castillo, Lago Sarmiento, Estancia Lazo, Laguna Verde, Puente Webber: After an early breakfast, we set off at around 07:00 AM from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales. For those wishing to ride, the adventure begins in the white shores of Lake Sarmiento where strange geological formations can be seen, due to the geothermal activity of the area. Next is a 15km bike ride down to the facilities of the Mirador del Payne Estancia (Estancia Lazo). Those who opt for trekking move straight down to the farm to visit the facilities and surroundings. Lunch, with breathtaking panoramic views at Estancia Lazo, is left up to the choice of the customer. In the afternoon, we tour the Paine River Trail through lush forests of Lengas and pristine small lagoons with stunning mountain range views of the Cordillera del Paine. (The feasibility of making this stretch of bike path is subject to weather and other factors. The level of demand for cycling this stretch is advanced, but passengers may choose to walk this part of the route which is equally fulfilling.) Then, we arrive at the park and pedal along a beautiful stretch of road to Lake Pehoe, where we will camp equipped with our excellent facilities and a Pared Sur-style roast.
