Nepal – Trekking to the Everest base
Terrestrial program, September 2014
other dates available for private groups
Find oneself with the magnificent Himalaya's mountains in Nepal it's a
happy experience to recover that spiritual peace and harmony so difficult to achieve in the
busy modern life. It's walking by the beautiful sherpa route heading to Sagarmatha
(Everest original name in Nepal) through deep forested ravines, crossing from time to time
by high suspension bridges over rushing rivers among ice giants, where the Everest's
unmistakable image stands out together with the Lotshe and the most beautiful mountain on earth:
Ama Dablam. It is to be touched by the tender look of the tiny smiling ones greeting with a
gentle Namaste while you walk past the beautiful stone cottages near the walled little
parcels. Religiosity infuses the entire route. In the mystical Kumjung, Namche and Tengbuche
monasteries, monks repeat their mantric chants or emite beautiful melodies with kettledrums,
small bells and horns which flood with music sunrise and sunset at the beautiful landscape.
Slender estupas on the highest points of the route show Buddha's eyes while we, visitors
and pilgrims, spin the prayer wheels for good omens in our journey.
Prayer flags flutter all around and carved rocks with prayers are often to be seen while
we advance. The Yaks caravans, decorated with bells and cowbells, go up and down while carriers
move their heavy burdens without stopping their smiles.
Great mountaineering epics were written in this region and the names of Sherpa Tensing and
Edmund Hillary, the first ones to conquer Everest top at May 29th, 1953, become familiar.
It's normal to arrive to a inn, where a Sherpa proudly show his memories that proves his
ascents of the Everest and the other mountains of 8000 meters, historical photos with these
great celebrities. History, Religion, Culture, Human Beauty, Breathtaking landscapes:
there are so many rewarding feelings that arise in this mythical Trekking route, therefore,
is rightly considered one of the best walking trips of the planet.
